This hostel is a hidden gem along the ice fields parkway, not far from the banff/jasper border. It was incredibly cheap and great value for money. The facilities great, or were as good as they could be for a rustic hostel and the warden will even allow you to connect to his wifi, although it isn't always on. Take a seat by the creek and definitely try out the sauna which is definitely pretty rustic. A great hostel that I hope to visit again one day.

Beautifully upgrades with new roof, shutters, paint job. Contour sheets for beds a nice touch. Ken most hospitable custodian, Three new toilets, the cleanest you will ever find,) well situated along a wide groomed path lit with solar lighting. Lots of extra pillows, heater and lighting in room, slept in until 8:20 it was so quiet. Huge fire pit with three long benches to sit on. Hiked Glacier Lake day one, and Sunset Pass day with views of Pinto Lake day two. Great little canyon behind.

This was my first wilderness hostel. I had to adjust a bit, but once I found the amazing chairs by the creek and was able to break in slowly, I really took to it. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Parking was away which made it a bit difficult but not too much. The bear signs were a bit frightening and stopped me from doing much outside once everyone headed in. It also took a bit to adjust having no place to change. Once guest said that is the treat of staying there.

The manager on duty during my stay, Ken, was just the friendliest guy, which contributed greatly to a lovely atmosphere. Also, excellent facilities for a wilderness location: Water tap indoors, working drain from kitchen sinks, solar powered refrigerators and electrical lights.
