360km from Dar; 6 hour drive

From Dar es Salaam, drive out to Mikumi on the Morogoro road A7. After passing through Mikumi National Park, turn left at Mikumi town at the sign for Udzungwa Mountains National Park. Drive for sixty km - the first 34km are on tarmac, then you cross the Ruaha river at Kilombero / Kidatu and pass on to a graded road for the remaining 26km. Hondo Hondo is on your right, just before the National Park entrance gate.

Unreliable but fun for those without time constraints and up for adventure. TAZARA from Dar takes 6 hours to Mang'ula station and passes through the Selous Game Reserve
