Nagasaki Kagamiya was a cute little hostel tucked away from downtown Nagasaki. The owners were really friendly. A nice surprise was receiving a three-day discount pass for popular attractions in Nagasaki when I arrived. Also, in the morning toast, tea, and coffee are provided. The only downside was having no lockers for valuables. I've traveled in Japan a bit and it is safe. However, I never like to take a chance with my belongings in any country.

Staff are helpful and the bed is very comfortable. The location is out of the way but is manageable with public transport. The male dorm felt a little cramped and could get stuffy at night with 3 people in it. It also seemed that it had not been cleaned in a little while but I saw the owner cleaning the other rooms every day so I dunno. Also there is no locker which might bother some people. Overall the place is not amazing but I would definitely stay there again.

Only stayed for one night so impressions are just from a short visit. It is really easy to find if you have a map with you, and only 4 minutes from the tram station Hotarujaya. Riding the tram is really cheap and you can get everywhere in Nagasaki with it. The facilities were all really clean and the common area and kitchen were fine. The dorm room only had 3 beds so it was comfy and quiet. There was no real locker for personal belongings which can be offputting for some people. Nice hostel.
