A good hostel to stay at for one or two nights to explore the Kyoto area.

Nice quiet hostel. The kitchen has good cooking apparatus though you will need to buy everything to eat and drink yourself (incl. tea, coffee etc). Very clean.

The most free stuff I have ever known in a hostel - great! From free pasta and rice available all day, as well as breakfast, to events incl. free popcorn on the movie night, this is the real "USP" of this hostel. Would definitely stay again. Tip: If coming from the airport, buy the myki card and get the 901 bus to Broadmeadows Station, then a train directly to Flinders Street Station (closer than Southern Cross Station). One of the station's exits is only a very short walk from the hostel.

Great! A very nice, quiet hostel in a residential area close to Roma Street station (one of the main stations in Brisbane). Most of the people staying there seem nice too, in contrast with other hostels I have stayed at in Australia, which seem to attract overly loud boisterous types.

Looks like a party hostel, but isn't. A few really weird things happened while I was there, the weirdest of them being woken up in the middle of the night with the light on, two guys arguing / talking loudly, all my things including my suitcase moved from under the bed, then they start cleaning ... in the middle of the night (actually the only time I have seen evidence of cleaning).

Quite a large hostel. Noisy till very late (I think this describes the whole of Buenos Aires though).
Dear traveller, we are very sorry to hear you had this issue! We always try to keep everyone as comfortable as possible. It´s true our hostel stay´s up til late and the staff always requests guests to try and keep it down at night. We know sometimes it turns to be harder than orders... We´ll consider your comments to keep improving. Hope we can receive you again some other time, America Team

I was really impressed by this hostel, which I thought would just be a place to stop over between flights (and sure, it definitely can be if you need that), but in particular the dorms are really spacious and comfortable and the breakfast was amazing (I have never seen so many amazing varieties of fruit in a hostel breakfast before!). Any time you want to go anywhere, just order a cab at reception.

Absolutely great - just like a guest house - the breakfast is particularly nice! A tip: if you are coming from the airport, it is cheap to take the green bus to Rio Coca ($2, about an hour) then cross into the main bus terminal and catch the bus heading South (25 cents, about 15 minutes), get off at Orellana and it is just a few blocks from there. The only problem is the second bus which is generally extremely full, so you could take a taxi for that short part instead (about $5 I heard quoted).

This hostel has the character of the neighbourhood it is in, with quite old worn out buildings, which you may see as a good or a bad thing. It definitely gives the hostel an atmosphere. I do think that the hostel would benefit from employing a cleaner though, particularly as there are quite a few bugs around (on one occasion one came out of the kettle which was a little worrying). Anyway the best part is the price of the rooms which is very affordable.

A nice cosy hostel close to the centre of La Serena and about 20 mins' walk from the beach area. Catch the bus and boat to Isla de Damas and go on an Elqui Valley tour (a bit harder to do by yourself because there are many different places of interest spread out over the valley).

Great - I guess a bit surprising that the bed is 90% of the room, but c'est la vie! Really rather warm on the top floor in summer too, with the sun coming straight through. Anyway, other than that, cool beans.

Great hostel with very helpful staff. The only problem I had was finding the hostel. Be aware that the hostel is on street Pumacahua, *not* on Pumapaccha which is also close by, east of Cusco centre. The house numbers in the street are *very* out of order (like 27, 202, 139, ...) so look up above the tall door for the unlit wooden sign. Actually one other problem I had was the price of the taxi to the airport - two staff confirmed the same price, but the taxi driver charged 66% (2/3) higher.

A great hostel for visiting Machu Picchu. The best part is that breakfast starts at 4am, so I had breakfast and still managed to catch one of the first buses up to Machu Picchu!

One of the best places I have ever stayed at! Right in the centre of Foz do Iguacu, about 5 minutes' walk from the local bus terminal (*not* the long-distance bus terminal, which is a short bus ride away). The breakfast in particular is amazing ... warm and cold food and drinks, fresh fruit, and even about 5 different types of cake!

A very good and budget-friendly hostel which is *not* in the centre of Sao Paulo but *is* in the north of the city, walkable from the Tiete bus terminal. The hostel is just like a European hostel, with a modern lobby area, keycards to get into dorms etc. Walking from Tiete looked like it might have been unsafe as it isn't the nicest of areas, but everything was fine.

A nice hostel for Moldova. Some little points which I aren't a big deal but best to forewarn you about: Pay in euros. When I paid in Moldovan lei, an exchange rate above the market value was used and then the result was "rounded up" by an extra 25 lei. This type of thing is common in Moldova, so be careful at markets etc as well. It was very hard to find at night (there are little red markings showing the way, but these are unlit). Note the houses are not in numerical order. Breakfast = bre

A very nice hostel in a very nice city! I was particularly impressed by the single staff member who was on duty for the entire 3 days I was there, including over night, doing all duties including staffing reception, cleaning and preparing the beds. Unfortunately, I found the claim of 'free breakfast' to be untrue.

One of the best hostels I have been to. Almost perfect. Only a few small things I could suggest to change, e.g. the website claims, "Free cof[f]ee, tea & apples," but this is untrue (there is a sign saying 'coffee 1 euro').

Probably okay for people who speak Polish. But I was clearly in the wrong hostel because I didn't speak Polish, I wasn't shown around, told the wifi password, the time of breakfast etc. and it was so dark. Thanks to the Ukrainian guest who told me the wifi password. I was overcharged by 5,40 euros. I assumed this must be a key deposit, but when I tried to ask about this using elaborate gestures, writing, Google translate, everything, the receptionist remained clueless, so I gave up in the end.

A very nice hostel. I suppose one can only expect to pay a little bit more when staying in Austria when compared with Eastern Europe. Tip for people staying here: if there is no power socket near your bed, ask for an extension lead at reception!

I really enjoyed staying here and met some very nice people here. I truly felt at home, in large part because of the super-friendly cat! One small negative: I was a little disappointed by the breakfast, which was very basic (less than 1 loaf of bread, a couple of tomatoes, some cheese, 1 small pot of coffee, 1 pot of tea ... to share between the whole hostel).

I really enjoyed staying here. This is more of a 'guest house' than a hostel ... but with hostel prices! Vera was a very helpful host and, despite not speaking much English, tried hard to understand and make me feel at home. The location is outside of the city centre, but there is a minibus which runs to/from the bus/train station every 30 minutes and it costs only 80 eurocents! Walking from the hostel is also nice because you get to see the countryside between the hostel and the city centre!
