Our small, bamboo and wooden made Hostel create a feeling of home and good vibes. Easy and chill out environment with the Caribbean Touch.

Roots is built in an open, typical carribean style and located at the heart of Puerto Viejo, only 100 meters from 'Parquecitos' Beach, 5 minutes walk for bars and restaurants and 300 m from the Bus Station.
The Beds in the Tree House Dorm provide bamboo and cane features as own locker (space enough for suitcases), lamp, outlet, curtains and a lot privacy! we have a few different ts category of private rooms and the house has different common areas to enjoy and gather and have a good time while meeting new people. We have a common kitchen for use with all the implements and filtered Water. All beds have a mosqutio net.
We have the cutest cats and our Dog Jamie loves to give kisses.

check in: 15:00 - 19:00
Please let us know when you arrive after 7pm to assure someone is around.
check-out: before 11:00
Check-outs after 11.00 will be charged 50% of daily Rate (Roots can store your bags if you leave the same day or come back to us with another reservation. We assume no liability for your bags.
Taxes not included - 13.00%
Payment in cash on your arrivaldate - Dollers or Colones
Cancellation Policy
Full Charge If cancelled within 1 days of arrival
30% of Full Stay - If cancelled within 2 days of arrival
No Charge - If cancelled within 3 days of arrival
The minimum age for check-in is 16
No private parking available. Public parking space around the Hostel - Roots family does not take legal responsibility for damage or theft.
Guests must be quiet between 22:00 and 07:00
Common kitchen is usable between 07:00 and 22:00
Pets are not allowed
Smoking is not allowed
Towels included in the private rooms - For the Dorm $3 per towel for use during your stay
We charge $3 in case of losing a key
we project release from any liability in case of natural disasters, loss of personal belongings, damage to your health or safety.

We came here after a not so great experience at a different hostel in puerto viejo. Definitely a fairly social hostel. Staff was nice and the bed was comfy. The room had a fan but it did almost nothing so we were sweating all night. Shower, bathrooms, and rooms were clean. In the private rooms the only thing separating you from the next room is some bamboo which had gaps that you could definitely look through to the next room. Overall worth the price and felt very welcoming

A lovely, peaceful, friendly hostel. We really enjoyed our stay here, a very relaxed hostel run by some really friendly and kind women. The place is very clean with a very laid back atmosphere. No complaints just gratitude xoxo

Booked a private room here - super comfy bed and fan plus mosquito net meant a cool, bite free night :) Staff and guests very friendly and it’s a calm, social place. Just extended my stay for a few nights to enjoy more - great location close to town but still quiet and lots of nice places to eat and drink nearby. Seems very suitable for solo female travellers also if you want somewhere friendly, safe and not far from the main part. Def recommend
