Cafe Del Sunshine

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! We had booked a private bungalow room and once we first arrived to the property to check in we were greeted with “you can’t check in you need to stay somewhere else. We overbooked” so we ended up having to stay at a hotel down the road. They had assured us we didn’t need to pay for the first night and that they would cover our other room for the night since they made a mistake with our booking. We came to check in the next morning and they told us we had to pay for the room (even though they told us the day before they would cover it). The room itself is not terrible, however if you value sleeping I wouldn’t even consider booking this hostel. It is located right beside a club that blasts music so incredibly loud it literally VIBRATES your entire bed. The music started around 10:30 pm and went till about 5 am. I had read reviews prior to coming and figured it would be normal loud music like any other hostel located near a bar and I would be fine with my earplugs. But nope, even with earplugs I could hear the extremely loud music and feel the vibration of the bass in my bed. Literally the worst night I’ve experienced in a hostel to date. The next morning we talked to the staff to ask if the music is that loud every night and she immediately started giving attitude and seemed annoyed telling us yes it is. And then proceeds to tell us she “can’t control her neighbour” “can’t tell them to turn it down” when we never asked them to do that? Honestly the overall experience dealing with the owner was very unprofessional and rude. I notified her we would be checking out 2 days early due to the noise problem and she couldn’t have cared less. No apology, nothing done to try and make the situation better, and no offer of a partial refund. Terrible customer service and experience here. 10/10 would NOT recommend this hostel. Personally, I think a lot of people are a little too generous with their ratings on this hostel. There are so many other hotels that are beautiful and located in great location and on the beach for the same cost.

Sleeping is quite difficult here even with earplugs as it back onto a strip of loud bars with music going till 5am. The room was very basic but clean.

I love this hostel! It has a jungle vibe to it and I found it great for meeting lots of interesting people. The location is good and there is a sandy beach in walking distance. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay! It went way too quickly and I’ll definitely be back!
