Welcome to Guesthouse Egilsborg Vikingur! We are located in a quiet street Thverholt 20, (said Thverholt) in the centre of Reykjavik.

Please only use the Grayline Bus when you arrive to us from the Airport, it's the only bus that drops you off at our entrance.

Egilsborg guesthouse is only a 2 minute walk from the main shopping street Laugavegur.
We are also 5 mins walk from the swimming pool, bus and taxi terminal, restaurants, city attractions, cafes, bonus and 1011 supermarkets.
Klambratun Park is only 300 meters from Vikingur Guesthouse providing you with sun, exercise, rest and tanning during the summer.
The famous Church of Hallgrmur is 10 minutes walk away. Don't forget to climb the tower.
We are also 10 minutes walk from Kringlan, the biggest shopping mall, here in Iceland.

In summer, guests can sit outside and relax in the sun. We also have a lovely garden.

Please advise us off your approximate time of arrival, so that we can organise your stay more efficiently.
Check in 14:00 - 22:00 only and check out is 10:00am. The property does not have a 24 hrs reception.
Yes! we have late check out, it is 10euros per hour. Yes! we have early check in, it is 15 euros per person.
Yes! you can leave your bags and come back, it is 15euros per person.
Yes! we have car parking in the premise, it is 15euros per car, per day.

Bag storage after check out is 5 euros per bag or 10euros over night.

Guests have access to the Grayline Bus that picks you up at the airport and drops you off exclusively at our guesthouse and vice versa. 3000 isk per pax-per trip.
Guests have access to free city maps, brochures and information.
Guests have access to a Dining and TV lounge.
Kitchen: is closed: stove and oven, is not open for guests.
Only fridge and microwave facilities.
Guests have access to paid WiFi at the premise.
Guests have access to paid parking within the premise, and free off street parking outside 5mins from the premise.
Guests also may wish to rent cars with us at arrival. This allows you to be flexible to travel without delay.

Guests have access to tours exclusively with Iceland Excursion that picks you up from the convenience of our door step.
Guests have access to laundry services at a cost of 4000 isk per load (wash and dry)-if needed after your trekking and hiking tours! :)
Guests have access to camping equipment for rent, gas, tent, stove, clothing etc.
Guests have access to our house library and DVDs.


Guests have access to Continental Breakfast between 08:30 - 10:00, but it is not included with the room. If is only 1500 isk per pax - per night.
If you are having your own private breakfast, please be advised to have it in your room or outside during Guests paid service. Thank you.
Guests can be eco-friendly here, we encourage everyone to recycle everything. =)

We are a very small guesthouse with only 17 rooms, so we can only offer shared bathrooms, and toilets.
The Vikingur Guesthouse 17 rooms consist of single, double and family sizes to suit all holiday makers. There is a bathroom and a shower on each floor.
If the office is unattended please ring the reception, or the door bell.


Payment is done online with city tax and credit card fee before you arrive. We use the Icelandic banks current commercial conversion - we use from Euro to Icelandic Kroner (this is subject to change).

There is a Reykjavik city tax of 300isk, per pax - per night.
There is a surcharge of 10 euro, 10 pounds, 10 USD, if you decide to pay by foreign currency.
There is a surcharge of 5% per Credit Card Transaction. Purchases from 5000isk and above only.

Note: You have NOT paid the full amount in this booking website.
Your full amount will be processed with city tax and credit card fee before you arrive to the guesthouse.

Please note: We do NOT allow - pets, candles, lanterns, drugs, parties, and smoking indoors.
As we cater for families and a quieter crowd, we have a curfew of 22:00, where the public areas are off boundaries. IE:- kitchen, garden, dining and TV area.

We don't allow outside guests into the premise or in your room. If you want to add another person in your room it is 30euros extra per person. depends on room size and conditions apply.

The bookings made for these periods are non-refundable, in case of late cancellation or no-show, the total amount of the booking will be kept. The balance may be charged in advance after the booking was made.
