Cairns is a backpackers' mecca and Cairns Central YHA Hostel has everything a backpacker needs for a comfortable stay.
Located right in the centre of Cairns, our hostel has a large internal courtyard with landscaped gardens, swimming pool, two spas and an outdoor games area. Our 61 rooms include dorms, single, twin/doubles and family rooms. All are air-conditioned and many are with ensuite.
Our facilities include a huge fully-equipped kitchen, huge TV screen over our pool for movie nights, laundry, indoor and outdoor dining areas, free and fast Wi-Fi all throughout the hostel, a comfy common area with TV, and secure luggage storage.
Our hostel is opposite Cairns Central Shopping Centre and is only a short walk from the Cairns Esplanade, where you can find lots of pubs, shops and cafes, plus Trinity Wharf, departure point for Great Barrier Reef cruises and day tours. Our staff are happy to help you book the best activities and tours right from the hostel!

The yha is solid. I had a private room and i would do it again. A quiet place but perfect for me.

only stayed for one night as I went to another hostel. Not the cleanest hostel I've stayed at, but people seemed nice

We stayed for one night before we moved on and it was okay. Not as great as the YHA we stayed in Sydney. The toilets/ showers were amazing - best showers I’ve seen. However kitchen was so dirty and you had to make ur own bed they just provide sheets - which is definetly pushing it for criticism but me and my friend checked in really late after a long bus journey and we were so not in the mood to have to make our own beds - and I’ve never seen a hostel do that before
